What a perfect day for my
beautiful sister to be born, Valentine’s Day.
Happy Birthday sis! I hope you’re celebrating in Heaven with all of our
family and loved ones. It’s been six
years since you passed and I still go to pick up the phone and sing you our
traditional “Happy Birthday to you song”, that you so graciously laughed at,
every year.
On the radio show I did last week
I referred to a poem that I believe you lived by, so this year sis I’m sending
you this poem instead of our happy birthday song, I hope you don’t mind.
The Dash

I
read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone,
from the beginning…to the end.
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone,
from the beginning…to the end.
He
noted that first came the date of her birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.
For
that dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
know what that little line is worth.
that she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
know what that little line is worth.
For
it matters not, how much we own,
the cars…the house…the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
the cars…the house…the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
So,
think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.
If
we could just slow down enough
to consider what’s true and real
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.
to consider what’s true and real
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.
And
be less quick to anger
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we’ve never loved before.
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we’ve never loved before.
If
we treat each other with respect
and more often wear a smile,
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.
and more often wear a smile,
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.
So,
when your eulogy is being read,
with your life’s actions to rehash…
would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent YOUR dash?
with your life’s actions to rehash…
would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent YOUR dash?

This poem is so perfect for you! It’s almost like the author
was writing it about you. Thank you Cheryl Ann for teaching me that everyday
has a purpose and that how I treat others is a reflection of me. I love you and
miss you every day. Happy Birthday Sis!
For the week of your birthday,
Cheryl’s bras has tried to reach out to as many people as we could through all
forms of social media.
It’s been a busy week of planning, our shirts
came in with the Cheryl’s logo on them, we registered to go the Working Woman’s
Survival Show and we continue to look for the perfect partner to get our bra’s
distributed throughout the country. We won’t stop till we get a “yes”.
Remember to make the most of your
“dash”…….with much love and appreciation…………Adrienne
